ABOUT THE ARTIST:   large product photo

With training from acclaimed designer and "used-clothing alchemist" Crispina ffrench, Kerry Maguire has been crafting signature designs for several years. Using the processes known as felting and piecework, Maguire transforms vintage wool sweaters into unique and colorful new looks. See a gallery of recent designs.

Also a dentist with a Master's degree in public health, Maguire's career has included clinical, academic, and corporate positions at Tufts University, Colgate, Tom's of Maine, and elsewhere. After making a dental service trip to Zambia in 2006, Maguire and a team of fellow dentists and healthcare volunteers worked together to form the nonprofit organization Options for Children in Zambia, dedicated to promoting the health and welfare of Zambian children and families. The group continues to make regular service trips, and has expanded its work to help at the village level with water, micro finance, education, soccer and other projects.

Proceeds from sales of Maguire's Pieceworks Zambia designs go towards funding Options for Children in Zambia.
